UOW College Australia (UOWCA) is wholly owned by the University of Wollongong. Since 1988, we have been offering students alternative entry to UOW through university preparation courses. Our product offerings include Academic programs (Higher Education Diplomas and University Access Programs), English Programs, and Vocational programs (including Nursing and Fitness).



An opportunity exists to join our team of casual Nursing Trainers for our Diploma of Nursing programs. This role provides an exciting opportunity for people who want to combine their passion for teaching with their industry experience to help shape future generations in their field.

The UOWCA Diploma of Nursing program is a vocational qualification that integrates the education and training of students in both theoretical and practical settings. Instruction within the Diploma of Nursing program is broken into three areas; theory, simulation and clinical placement. UOWCA Nursing Trainer staff will report to the UOWCA Program Manager (Nursing) and be responsible for the provision of professional standards of teaching and related responsibilities.

All classes are centred on the Units of Competency within the Diploma of Nursing qualification and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMAC) nursing standards.

Nursing Trainers must have the ability and willingness to travel (within region) to facilitate students in work placement. Responsibilities include course delivery, lesson plans, conduct and mark assessments, participation in validation and moderation activities, associated administrative tasks, compliance with organisational policy and quality process.

Selection Criteria to be addressed in application

  • Registered Nurse with a higher education qualification
  • Current Registration as RN with AHPRA
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment OR TAE40110 with required ASS and LLN units
  • Minimum 5 years post registration clinical experience in health care industry
  • Teaching or facilitation experience
