The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our Sales Channels team based in Sydney. The purpose of this role is to work with a talented team in a high-performance culture within Insurance Technology. Your role will provide systems analysis, design, development, maintenance & ongoing support for Suncorp’s Sales Channels applications. Your passion for delivering quality software will be rewarded, as will your contribution of fresh ideas to continuously improve our way of working.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse system requirements and develop technical design
• Develop and maintains application software
• Support the application software by analysing and fixing problems as required
• Perform unit and integration testing on developed code
• Work with testers using ATDD principles and instrument test as required.
• Produce thorough and effective unit and system test plans and participate and/or support further testing phases
• Support initiatives that align to the strategic direction of the Claims Technology domain
• Provide technical advice to the business customers on business opportunities
• Assist with investigations into potential solutions, liaise with relevant technical experts and contribute to solution design and costing
• Formulate and recommend changes and/or enhancements to Suncorp standard processes
• Utilise agile methodologies where appropriate in your work.

Skills & Experience

• 3-5 years of software engineering experience
• Experience with Java, source control systems, continuous integration tools
• Agile collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence etc) experience
• Java & JavaScript languages
• Build Dependency Management: Maven, Gradle, Grunt, Bower, NPM, Webpack & Babel
• Web Frameworks: Spring, Spring Web Flow, JSP, React & Redux
• Experience with modern API technologies and practices including RESTful API development
• Experience supporting high availability production systems is highly desirable
• Experience in Cloud Technologies/AWS is favourable
• Test Driven Development or Behaviour Driven Development experience is favourable
