About the Position 

We’re currently seeking a passionate, innovative and professional Brand Communications Manager to join our fast growing team. This position requires a blend of creative and strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution capabilities to bring a holistic approach to brand building. The candidate will be responsible for leading the company’s strategic brand initiatives for the company, driving our brand voice and establishing reputation across all communications channels both internally and externally. The candidate will need to implement new brand protocols from the ground up. This role presents the opportunity to impact multiple facets of the company, from the brand to the network, from our partners to subscribers, helping establish CompassList as the go-to platform for discovering innovative startups, especially in our focus areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point-person for developing, implementing, and executing all major branding initiatives for the company
  • Refine and focus the brand’s identity and voice to ensure that messaging is consistent across all key external touch points including the website, newsletter, pitch decks as well as all social media platforms
  • Develop and implement internal communication protocols, guidelines and best practices for ensuring brand clarity across the Company 
  • Work closely with the web, editorial, design and social media team to update all brand and marketing assets to drive brand awareness across all communication channels
  • Serve as the primary brand ambassador for all external partner relations to effectively communicate our unique value propositions and build our brand reputation 
  • Copy-write all branding related materials for all our platforms and for multiple audiences ranging from our internal teams to external stakeholders such as our readers, subscribers, social media followers, partners and more
  • Work closely alongside the Social Media Manager to write, review and copy-edit all posts for social media channels in line with the platform’s brand and content strategy
  • Consistently assess and evaluate brand awareness and engagement through website data, social media analytics and partner feedback in order to keep the brand updated and relevant
  • Conduct ongoing reviews, brainstorming and ideation for new insights and recommendations for brand and product improvements
  • This role will work closely and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer


Requirements

General

  • At least 5 years of experience in branding, marketing, public relations and/or a communications related discipline
  • Strong passion for brand building, creative design as well as innovative marketing strategies 
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects both strategic and hands on in execution and delivery
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally to engage, inspire and collaborate with multiple internal teams across various stages of a campaign
  • Strong leadership and great interpersonal communication skills with experience managing a team, cultivating relationships and working with international markets
  • Excellent writing and copy-editing skills with an ability to craft brand relevant content for multiple platforms and audiences
  • Prior experience in digital and social media is a plus


Culture

  • Passion and keen understanding of the tech startup sector and culture, and is in tune with the latest industry trends and updates
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced startup environment is preferred


Technical Skills

  • Experience with copywriting is a must
  • Knowledge of social media platforms as well as technical understanding of metrics, tracking and KPIs
  • Basic understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics 
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and other design software tools is preferred
