BUSHFIRE RECOVERY CONSERVATION TRAINEES X 6

About the Role

Responsible for undertaking natural resource management (NRM) activities, including bush regeneration, weed control, revegetation, species and site assessments, landscaping, nursery and light construction activities. Participate in training and assessments to gain accredited qualifications in key modules from the Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management that align with this work. These are entry-level roles aimed at individuals interested in exploring a career in the conservation and land management. You will develop the skills, knowledge and experience needed to prepare you for work. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified peoples strongly encouraged to apply.

Location: Orbost and District (3 positions); Cann River / Mallacoota Districts (3 positions)

Contract Type: Fixed Term, Part Time Contract (9 days per fortnight) over 6 months. Roles to commence in June.

Some of the key duties of this role include:

  • Participate in training and assessments to gain accredited qualifications in key modules from the Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management.
  • Undertake practical work in bush regeneration, plant propagation, site preparation, revegetation / tree planting, track maintenance and other environmental restoration / land management tasks aligned with your training.
  • Carry out maintenance of tools, equipment, machinery and infrastructure used in the conduct of ground work activities.
  • Contribute to a constructive and team-based workplace culture, attend employee meetings and undertake professional development.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings and the identification and reporting of risks.
  • Receive tailored advice and assistance to gain work following your placement.
  • Other duties as required.
