How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

As the Support Officer you will provide general and specialised administrative support to the Health & Wellbeing Branch. This role acts as the first point of contact for customers wishing to access the branch’s services. This is a key administrative role as the branch is heavily reliant on the timely flow of information and paperwork.

You will maintain good knowledge of work area functions and of other City of Melbourne branches and services in order to be able to effectively handle customer enquiries with people from a wide variety of backgrounds in a professional and timely manner.

This position will suit someone who has a wide range of experience in customer service and can bring well-developed verbal and written communication skills.

You can bring… (Selection criteria)

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Experience in an administration and customer service role.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.
  • High level of accuracy and efficiency with data entry.
  • High level of computing skills including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and the ability to pick up new applications.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a large team.


  • Local government experience, preferably in the area of environmental or public health
  • Experience in Pathway and Hummingbird Document Management systems.
  • Experience in Accela and Salesforce systems.
