Our Operation

Peak Downs is a large open cut coking coal mine in Queensland located 31 km SSE of Moranbah. Peak Downs is one of seven mines in Bowen Basin owned by BMA, Australia’s largest coal miner and exporter. Production at Peak Downs started in 1972. The Peak Downs mine produces coking coal, which is transported to the Hay Point Terminal south of Mackay.

About The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Asset Health, the Specialist Condition Monitoring will be key contact for providing specialist advice through deep technical analysis and diagnosis of machine condition data, which ultimately provides guidance for remediation work.

This role is based at our Peak Downs Mine site on a 5/2 (flex) roster. The successful candidate will have flexible options, or can also select to live residentially in the nearby towns of Moranbah or Dysart.

In This Role You Will

  • Conduct analysis of plant and equipment through detailed condition monitoring reports and integrity assessments, report defects identified, provide repair recommendations/methodologies and ensure rectification work is executed to an acceptable standard in-field
  • Have strong levels of engagement with execution and planning teams to ensure we actively manage defects
  • Develop, implement and facilitate improvement initiatives across maintenance through financial and technical analysis
  • Provide technical input and review the maintenance strategies for maintenance, condition based monitoring across site
  • Provide technical support to maintenance execution to support work quality and safe execution of work
  • Mentor and provide knowledge for technical fault diagnosis and defect identification
  • Build business partnerships and maintain strong working reationships with key stakeholders across the business


About You
  • Trade qualifications complimented by an engineering mindset and operational understanding
  • Relevant experience with Condition Monitoring, Heavy Mining Equipment/Fixed Plant
  • Experience with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and defect elimination
  • Highly analytical and the ability to problem solve
  • Working knowledge of SAP or aligned software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential
  • The ability to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels
