Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), we are committed to achieving innovative, ground-breaking health and medical research that fundamentally improves the quality of life for all people.
The Software Developer will be a key member of an innovative centre within SAHMRI, the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre (WRC). The WRC develops, tests and conducts studies on mental health technology solutions and works closely together with its related spin out called Be Well Co. Pty. Ltd in commercialising the solutions. The Software Developer will work under the direction of the co-leads to the Centre and will be embedded within the larger SAHMRI IT team.

The position will focus on the analysis, design and development of the Be Well technology product suite, which entails a currently active measurement platform (Be Well Tracker) and a psychological skills training support app (Be Well Plan App), which are integrated via an integration API. The position will predominantly focus on the Be Well Tracker, as the Be Well Plan app development is conducted by an external vendor. Excellent communication skills are a must as the role involves consulting with staff and external partners to analyse requirements and implement appropriate solutions.

About The Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Play a key role in the analysis, development, implementation, testing and change management efforts for new software applications and changes to existing software applications.
  • Develop new software applications and new features for existing software applications.
  • Investigate and rectify issues with new and existing software applications.
  • Ensure maintenance requirements are undertaken for the Be Well Tracker.
  • Write technical documentation for new and existing software applications.
  • Liaise with the wider SAHMRI WRC team and external partners to assist in the definition and refinement of requirements
  • Liaise with other members of the ICT and WRC teams to assist in the definition and refinement of requirements.
  • Work within a well-defined software development process, using the defined tools for software configuration management.
About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:
  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Experience with C# and Microsoft .NET Core.
  • Experience with relational database design, Azure MS SQL Server and SQL Database Projects.
  • Responsive and accessible front-end development using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience with NodeJS / Typescript, Angular 7+ and Redux/RXJS
  • Azure DevOps and general Azure instance management.
  • Ability to understand an existing codebase and write meaningful unit level tests and documentation to improve overall code quality and supportability.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of staff including both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Able to identify, analyse and creatively solve business problems into cost-effective and practical outcomes..
  • Must be able to work together with external technical resource responsible for auxiliary solutions
  • Proven experience in implementing and supporting software solutions
  • Commitment to producing quality code and UI/UX design
