Reporting to the Packaging & Warehouse Supervisor the incumbent is responsible for the physical aspects of shipping, receiving and warehousing at Seastar Chemicals Inc. The incumbent will also work within the Packaging Group preparing, filling, labelling and packaging Seastar products.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

  • DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Prepare and palletize goods for outbound shipments, ensure compliance with domestic and
    international dangerous goods packaging requirements.
    • Load and unload trailers.
    • Inspect and verify incoming goods against packing lists or other documents, record
    shortages and reject damaged goods.
    • Enter purchase order receipts into Chempax C/S in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Follow-up, investigate and report/correct any discrepancies with purchase order receipts.
    • Ensure raw materials and finished goods are clearly identified, well-organized, and stored in
    the correct location.
    • Operate 5-tonne company truck to perform warehouse transfers.
    • Perform inventory counts.
    • Complete any required training on Chempax C/S, Seastar’s ERP system.
    • Maintain warehouse areas and equipment.
    • Provide back-up for other members of Packaging Group.
  • PRODUCTIVITY:
    • Responsible for participating in achieving organization’s financial, operational and service
    targets.
    • Perform job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s values.
    • Other activities as determined by the Packaging Supervisor.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience And Certifications)
    • High School Diploma
    • Previous warehouse and distribution experience (chemical/manufacturing preferred)
    • Working knowledge of operational procedures and equipment related to the movement of
    materials in a manufacturing environment
    • Computer proficiency skills (Internet, MS Office)
    • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an industrial warehouse environment. The associate works near moving mechanical machinery and noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The job requires working in heights, exposure to changes in temperature, driving equipment, and will be exposed to chemicals, dust, fumes, or gases.

    The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day. The physical requirements of the job are for associates to talk, hear, bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb height, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull. Furthermore, the job requires associates to lift/carry/push or pull up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.

    Associates use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating as well as both feet for repetitive movement operating foots controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
