The department
This position sits within our Asset Maintenance department. The Asset Maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance and renewal of Council’s assets throughout the region. The areas of responsibility are primarily Roads and Drains, Parks, Cleansing, Construction, Fleet and Building and Facilities infrastructure. The Asset Maintenance department is one of the largest departments within Council, maintaining essential community infrastructure across the Moreton Bay region.
The role
Your responsibilities will include providing direction and day to day supervision of an assigned maintenance work crew, as well as performing general labouring and operating plant and equipment provided on construction and maintenance projects. You will be required to plan daily work - including measuring and calculating quantities of materials required and have the ability to identify road/drainage infrastructure defects and their causes, including identifying materials and methods and heavy plant required for rectification works. Liaising with technical staff - gaining advice and providing feedback with respect to the condition of infrastructure and supporting supervisors and management in decision making and some additional administrative tasks are also some of the duties required of the Crew Leader.
Requirements
To be successful in this role you must possess demonstrated relevant experience in a similar role, computer and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with the public and team members and a knowledge of a variety of heavy plant for road/drainage and infrastructure repairs.
You will also need to hold a current MR class driver's license, a construction induction card and a current high risk work (HRW) dogging (DG) license - or must be willing to obtain DG within 6 months of commencement.

Remuneration: $63,979 pa + super (76 hour fortnight)
