About the role

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for providing high level advice and administration support to the Director Disability, Aged Care and Mental Health Qld and NT in delivering on our ambitious strategic and operational priorities.

Reporting to the Director, you will provide a full range of timely, confidential, and high-level executive insight, advice and support to ensure the Director is able to perform to their best. This includes preparing and coordinating Directorate and Executive papers, coordination of governance arrangements, regular reporting and supporting preparation for key meetings, project coordination and high-level stakeholder engagement.


Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Provide high level executive support to within a large complex environment.
  • Undertake research activities to develop strategic and operational advice for the Chief Executive to undertake informed decision making and planning
  • Prioritise requests, managing workloads and exercising sound judgement in a changing environment often under tight timelines and high-volume conditions
  • Advise on business decisions utilising a mixture of data analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement.
  • Monitor and coordinate the implementation of Strategic and Business Plans, reporting on achievement, timelines, budgets, and outcomes
  • Ensure day to day high level administrative responsibilities are undertaken in an efficient, professional and timely manner.
  • Undertake a secretariat role for Governance arrangements in place across the Disability, Aged Care and Mental Health Directorate
  • Provide high level stakeholder engagement with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate and collate operational reporting, providing analysis and briefings to the Director
  • Work as part of a national team that is focused on continuous improvement and sharing of ideas

To be successful in this role, your skills will include:

  • Experience and understanding what’s required to operate at an executive level in a complex, geographically dispersed organisation
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills both written and verbal communication skills with extensive experience in negotiation, conflict resolution and building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Talented writer with a client centric focus for report writing, proposals and executive papers
  • Proven negotiation skills, particularly when working with Committees on projects or with senior executives.
  • Highly skilled communicator who is able to engage with external stakeholders at an executive level
  • Hold a tertiary level qualification in business, management, or relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience in research, analysis of data and provision of information

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
