Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for a number of Commercial Directors to oversee the commercial management of various projects and programs. The roles will be located in the Sydney metropolitan region, Coffs Harbour and Newcastle.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead the commercial management and administration of projects and issues within the Branch, including construction procurement, contractual management, and dispute resolution consistent with Transport commercial framework, practices and procedures.

The role provides leadership and guidance, ensuring the programs contract and commercial management align with Transport policy and sound commercial practices.

The role will include but not limited to:

Acting as a thought leader, remaining abreast of current and emerging planning issues and trends including domestic and international best practice, innovative approaches and opportunities to support the achievements of the business objectives.
Provide timely advice on commercial matters including contract negotiations, contract risk allocation and probity to support the achievement of best practice compliant contracts.
Lead a team of project contract administration and procurement specialists to effectively manage risks to ensure successful delivery of projects for the Project Office/ Delivery Hub.
Manage the Legal, Commercial, Transaction and Cost advisors to develop the commercial principles, documents and processes and ensure alignment to Transport policies and frameworks to deliver effective commercial engagement through the delivery phase.

About you

You are a hands-on, well-organised Commercial Director, Quantity Surveyor or Senior Commercial Operator with experience working in either a similar government role or the private sector. You will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, and have an eye for detail, with the ability to quickly and efficiently get across the issues which arise from delivering large infrastructure projects. You will be a problem solver with a collegiate attitude. Some change management experience would also be highly desirable.
