Ticketing System Specialist – Next Generation Ticketing

  • Annual Salary Range: $168,470 - $229,121 per annum plus superannuation
  • Tenure: Fixed Term (18 months)
  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Usual Work Location: Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

About the Team

The Policy and Innovation Division drives future transport opportunities, legislative and policy reform, and imbed a deep understanding of the user and innovative technology.

About the Opportunity

The Ticketing System Lead will be part of a small project team within the Commercial Strategy division, set up to develop the strategy and pathway for delivery of the state's next generation ticketing system and oversee transition to the implementation phase managed by a different project.

Key elements of the role involve leading the technical workstream including providing expert technical advice on ticketing technology solution design and systems integration for Victoria and commissioning specialist inputs from consultancies as required. The successful candidate will have proven experience and deep technical expertise in designing all aspects of public transport ticketing systems, including software engineering, customer interface, payment architecture and systems integration. 

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience leading the technical design of public transport ticketing systems in Australia/New Zealand, including system engineering design, customer interface, payment architecture and systems integration. 
  • Expertise on current and emerging ticketing technologies and payment systems and their suitability in different contexts.
  • Strong ability to engage stakeholders and provide expert advice to senior levels of government.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team – including by harnessing the skills of the team, stakeholders and external advisers – to deliver complex projects with interdependent workstreams and multiple external interfaces and stakeholders, often with competing priorities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A knack for tailoring communication and advice to the audience and situation, including ability to translate complex concepts into an accessible format.
