Executive Manager, Compliance - Insurance Distribution

How will I help?

Reporting to a Head of Compliance, the purpose of this role is to oversee and provide Compliance support to General Insurance (property and liability lines) and Lenders Mortgage Insurance Distribution business within the Consumer Division of Westpac, and co-ordinating compliance impacts of change.

The Executive Manager will oversee and co-ordinate the Compliance response to change in the distribution channels, including support for regulatory change, Group Compliance policy change, and key business projects whilst applying cross-Group and external/industry perspective to provide insights into potential risk and compliance issues/impacts. You’ll engage in regulatory change to understand and interpret implications for the relevant business units on behalf of the team including attending external industry forums where relevant.

Furthermore, you will review and advise on business projects and key changes. Provide leadership and advice on regulatory based change initiatives and support the Insurance Entity Boards and management by identifying, assessing, and reporting risks to the Board, Board Committees and management committees.

What do I need?

A strong candidate will bring relevant experience in Compliance with an understanding of relevant Insurance regulations and regulatory guidelines. You’ll have an understanding of relevant laws and regulations underpinning the wealth business, including the Corporations Act, Insurance Act, Insurance Contracts Act, RG146, RG104, RG105, RG165, Privacy laws and Conflicts of Interest.

You will hold stakeholder management skills and highly proficient with both your verbal and written communication. You will be asked to challenge and hold your own amongst some key people across the organisation and provide your thought leadership on several matters.
