About the Department

St Vincent's Pathology is committed to the provision of a comprehensive, high quality diagnostic and consultative pathology service for St Vincent's campuses, GP's and medical specialists in the Melbourne area.

About the Role

You will satisfy set learning goals and provide pathology transfusion services with competence in all aspects of Transfusion Science by compliance with relevant current Australian Standards, Legislation and following Haematology department and hospital policies.

The classification for this position will range between an RX1 - RX7 ($58,827 - $84,380 base salary per annum - pro rata for part timers)


  • Participates in 24/7 rotating roster
  • Rotate through various sections of the laboratory and are responsible for the processing of specimens according to established laboratory procedures and issuing of results relevant to these specimens.
  • Work as part of a team to achieve high quality work and produce accurate and timely reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of clinical haematology and it’s practical applications
  • Competence in interpreting blood transfusion, haematological results and blood film examination
  • good interpersonal and communication skills
  • good time management skills
