Your Impact

Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Data Warehousing, your new role as Senior Data Warehouse Engineer will see you participate in the direction-setting and creation of the analysis, design, development, delivery and support of the Group Data Warehouse and associated extract, transform, and load processes to meet a range of business needs. You will take on complex data warehouse tasks and complete them, despite roadblocks, grabbing others for help or insight as necessary.

You will have end-to-end responsibility for projects of increasing complexity that encompass more than your own development and you will contribute to the common code bases and standards for your team. At times, you will take on leadership responsibility and technical mentorship to the overall team, helping to draft clear time schedules, removing blockers and are proactive in assisting more junior members of the DW team.

nib’s Emerging Technology and Data Platforms team enhance our service delivery of Data Warehouse & Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering and Machine Learning Engineering outputs, through the creation of technical centres of excellence. We are a highly collaborative team, we love to explore, challenge and have a lot of fun along the way by challenging the status quo and experimenting

Your Background
With strong knowledge and experience in implementing ETL/ELT technologies in an enterprise environment, your expertise in cloud data warehouse design, modelling and development will see you hit the ground running. Furthermore, you will have:

  • Advanced knowledge in data modelling principles including Data Vault and Kimball methodologies
  • Experience with cloud databases such as Snowflake
  • Experience with data structures and query languages in relational databases such as MSSQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of data extraction and manipulation tools such as dbt, DataStage, Talend, or SSIS
  • Experience in the migration of on-premise systems to cloud infrastructure
  • Architectural mindset with demonstrated knowledge of software engineering principles
  • Be an advocate for good software engineering practices such as automated testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery
  • Product thinking in software design with a deep understanding of how to build resilient and secure systems
