Technology Risk Advisor

The Role:

The Technology Risk Advisor will work with the Manager to partner with the business as a trusted advisor through advice and guidance and advocate for increasingly robust risk maturity. As the Risk Advisor, you will be responsible for providing oversight of enabling functions (T&T) in all matters pertaining to risk management and contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the enabling functions team culture and strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the desired risk culture by reporting and escalating opportunities or inadequacies in risk management activities
  • Partner with the relevant 1st line leadership teams to ensure effective risk management by providing strategic and tactical risk management advice
  • Provide oversight and challenge of the identification, assessment and monitoring of all risks across enabling functions
  • Provide advice to the business on interpretation and implementation of frameworks and policy
  • Provide advice to the business based on insights derived from internal and external data trends and forecasts
  • Represent the Risk team as a key stakeholder on initiatives and change opportunities
  • Develop effective working relationships across the Risk function

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in insurance, banking, of financial services
  • Minimum 3 years risk management experience or similar business
  • Demonstrated balance of strong commercial acumen (internal and external), depth of experience and political astuteness
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively negotiate and influence
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a related discipline (business, law, finance, commence, IT, mathematics, risk, compliance
