JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Mechanical Engineer & Building Services Engineer with local Fire Safety experience;
  • Preferably coming out of a mechanical background;

ABOUT THE EMPLOYER:

We are working exclusively with a business that has doubled in size over the last year. They currently have some large maintenance projects in Fire Safety and are looking for an individual to help them grow and manage this part of the business. If you come out of a Project Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Building Services Engineer, Service Technician, Facilities Manager role this will suit you well.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project management and planning.
  • Read and understand mechanical plans to quote AFSS requirements to clients
  • Work closely with other Mechanical Engineer to quote repairs
  • Read and understand relevant Australian standards and BCA codes
  • Read and understand fire schedules and fire matrix
  • Complete accreditation and stay up to date with training
  • Suggest training for AFSS technicians
  • Actively read relevant information in the forums on FPAA website
  • Identify AFSS requirements by looking at plans, inspection records, fire matrix, fire schedule etc.
  • Provide accurate and competitive quote to client for AFSS inspection
  • Raise periodic jobs one AFSS is approved with correct information
  • Book in with the client for the inspections. Sometimes this involves booking with 50+ different apartments
  • Chase/receive testing results/information from technician in timely manner
  • Maintain fire damper schedules and ensure we are testing and certifying a different 20% each year
  • Process paperwork from technician and email to client
  • Quote any failures to client for repairs
  • Book in repairs with client
  • Sign the AFSS statement and send to client only once the site is compliant
  • Liaise with client when there is a failure/non-compliant result and be able to explain complicated issues in a way they can understand
  • Actively chase more work through existing leads and new leads
  • Pre-plan inspections, notify clients of up and coming inspections 3-4 months prior to inspections. Pre-book works and try not to book work in busy seasons
  • Reporting on job costing, total jobs etc.
  • Maintain AFSS aroflo database

QUALIFICATIONS & SALARY:

  • Preferably must have completed a relevant engineering or construction qualification;
  • Min a year experience in Fire Safety would be of great advantage;
  • Full time opportunity
  • Salary between $75,000 - $120,000 + Super (negotiable depending on experience);
