- Central Brisbane location, close to Central Station

Client Details

My client is in the housing, accommodation, real estate and property industry based in the Brisbane CBD. They have experienced growth across the past 12 months and are looking to continue this growth. They operate across Australia & New Zealand, enjoying a great reputation in their field.

Description

This Assistant Accountant role will be responsible for the preparation of management accounts for a number of rental properties, as well as a heavy month end focus.

The role allows growth and development of accounting and professional skills alongside the opportunity to understand how a well run, efficient finance department works.

Primary duties for month end procedures will include:

  • income journals
  • bank reconciliations
  • maintenance of prepayment and accrual schedules
  • profit and loss statements, including commentary on variances between actuals and budget/forecast
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • GST reconciliations
  • Cash flow statements

Working closely with the property management team to assist them in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts

Inter-company reconciliations

Accounts Receivable invoicing, including review of transactions, invoicing and journals for properties across the business

Debtor management and arrears reporting

Ad-hoc duties where required

Profile

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience working within a corporate office environment for at least 1 year previously. Ideally this will have been within a hands on accounting function - IE Assistant Accountant, Accounts Payable/Receivable.

Additionally they will hold an Accounting or related degree, with a GPA of 5+.

Other important skill sets include:

- Intermediate Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables)

- Excellent communication skills is key

- Self motivated, ability to work autonomously & as a part of a team.
