The Department of Regional NSW was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues.

The Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation (the Corporation) is established under the Growth Centres (Development Corporations) Act 1974 to lead the delivery and implementation of the Government’s Special Activation Precincts (SAP) program. These world class precincts will support existing and emerging ‘engine industries’. This includes but is not limited to advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, agribusiness, and freight and logistics which will drive regional NSW economies over the next 20 years.

About the role:

This role will be responsible for managing complex and sensitive issues within a diverse, matrix structure and with numerous external stakeholders.

The Infrastructure Design Manager will champion innovation and value engineering through the coordination, management and review of design requirements and standards for the public and private infrastructure within Special Activation Precincts and develop strong partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including local government and delivery partners to ensure the successful delivery of the precincts.

The role will be accountable for:

  • Implementing appropriate design and infrastructure standards to improve the consistency and effectiveness
  • Leading and overseeing all aspects of project development and design, to ensure project outcomes are achieved.
  • Ensuring that public and private infrastructure is designed to be fit for purpose and will meet future demand and expansion
  • Reviewing design proposals of developers

This role will aim at improving the consistency and effectiveness of the corporation’s design capability and infrastructure delivery outcomes.

The role will report to the Director Infrastructure and Delivery.

About You:

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have:

  • Extensive experience in the design management of complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong stakeholder skills will assist you to develop and maintain effective working relationships and open channels of communication to improve the profile of the Corporation.
  • Led and managed project teams to deliver the key milestones with a client focussed approach to service delivery.
  • Solid professional and technical judgement with regards to the quality of solutions proposed and delivered.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated high level experience in engineering and design of civil infrastructure.
