Sr. Staff Systems Engineer, A/NZ

This position reports to Senior Manager, Systems Engineering, APJ

The Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineering team at ServiceNow is looking for help to architect and build the server infrastructure and core services that allow our SaaS platform to run at scale and with high availability. We’re looking for a skilled Systems Engineer who can help craft the technology and processes needed to sustain ServiceNow’s growth while gaining valuable experience in modern systems and software development. This role is available in our Sydney (preferred) or Canberra office and will focus primarily on ServiceNow’s A/NZ market.

What You Get To Do In This Role

  • Write and develop software-defined declarative infrastructure.
  • Build orchestration workflows by leveraging features of the ServiceNow platform.
  • Research and implement new open-source and commercial tools, technologies and methodologies
  • Manage enterprise infrastructure at scale with code
  • Collaborate with peer teams who have built world-class networking and orchestration solutions
To be successful in this role, we need someone who:
  • Is comfortable with their ability to design, author, test and debug code.
  • Lives and breathes object-oriented programming, particularly Java and/or Python
  • Has experience writing test specifications and understand the fundamentals of test automation.
  • Has a capable understanding of Linux-based systems and Internet protocols such as DNS, SMTP, LDAP, etc.
  • Is familiar with virtualization using both public and private cloud infrastructure technologies, namely Azure
  • Can figure things out - you’ll be working with a wide variety of technology. There is plenty of help, but to be successful, you will need to be able to take advantage of it.
  • Is passionate about CI/CD & DevOps
  • Understands what it means to be part of a team, has a willingness to share and collaborate, and isn’t afraid to ask for help.
  • Has proficient oral and written communication
  • Has integrity, honesty and can uphold ServiceNow’s values
  • Is an Australian citizen
While these are not ‘musts’, they are undoubtedly nice-to-have:
  • ServiceNow platform development experience/certifications
  • Relevant Azure, AWS or GCP certifications
  • Hands-on experience working with Terraform Azure
  • Practical experience with configuration management using Puppet

NOTE: Due to the nature of work related to this position, the successful candidate may be required to obtain a Federal Government Clearance. The minimum requirement to obtain this clearance is to be an Australia citizen.
