JOB DESCRIPTION

Bis is seeking a qualified Mechanical Planner to join our Karara operation to oversee the workshop crew and to ensure that a preventative maintenance schedule is developed, implemented and adhered to.

The role is Karara (Geraldton) based on an 8 and 6 roster, reporting to the Site Manager.

We’re looking for reliable people with a solid commitment to working safely, are driven to achieve and enjoy contributing to our team’s success.

In this role, you will:
  • Plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance activities by task and priority through work orders on the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Prepare work packages for all planned maintenance activities inclusive of repetitive maintenance.
  • Manage work orders, documentation, parts consumed and asset history within the CMMS.
  • Obtain parts quotes, raise requisitions and update site registers.
  • Manage spare parts and the alignment between the maintenance team and stock on site.
  • Raise BOM’s for regular maintenance works.
  • Coordinate daily as well as weekly planning meetings related with maintenance.
  • Create schedules and Gantt charts for planned shutdowns.
  • Coordinate plant-wide shutdowns.
  • Record and report on availability, downtime and performance on the fixed and mobile equipment.
  • Obtain Supplier quotes for services and schedule site works.
  • Manage (in conjunction with Perth Assets) repairs to machinery and components off site.
  • Provide technical assistance for supporting entire on-site maintenance activities.
  • Train employees on how to use the CMMS.

What you need:
  • Solid experience in fixed plant repair and maintenance
  • Up to date mechanical knowledge with fixed plant equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people in a workshop environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of a CMMS
  • Knowledge of WH&S regulations
  • Ability to prioritise workload to minimise downtime of equipment
  • Significant experience with JDE is advantageous
  • Positive, proactive approach to safety;
  • Commitment to working as part of a team;
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to customer service.
