About The Project

The Monash Freeway is in Melbourne’s fast growing south east and outer south-east region and the $761M design and construct project will expand the Monash from eight to 10 lanes slashing nearly ten minutes off the morning peak hour commute and better connect the Monash to Eastlink.

Works include the addition of 36 kilometres of new lanes to the Monash Freeway, upgrading the Beaconsfield interchange with new freeway ramps, the extension and widening of O’Shea Road and the roll out of the Freeway Lane Management System to better manage traffic flows.

Construction commenced in 2020 and is due to be completed in 2022.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking applications from experienced and motivated Project Managers with strong civil experience to join our team. You will be responsible for delivering a profitable project to time, cost, quality and compliance dimensions. The role demands a strong focus on leadership to achieve required outcomes and the promotion of high-performance standards in accordance with the specified requirements and client expectations.

As Project Manager, You Will Be Accountable For
  • Managing the effective set-up, delivery, and completion of the designated scope
  • Managing and monitoring the completion of work scope to ensure programme, budget, quality, environmental and contractual obligations are achieved and taking prompt corrective action where required
  • Promoting a positive safety culture in line with our project values and behaviours
  • Reviewing and authorising design and construction plans, schedules, temporary works designs, method statements and job safety analysis
  • Lead and develop a team, providing clear direction to direct reports and promoting collaboration and communication within the team and across various disciplines across the project.
  • Monitoring project progress against the programme and budget
  • Preparing accurate project reports
  • Ensuring the project is adequately resourced to deliver project requirements in the with the programme and contractual agreements

Requirements for this role are
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 10 years’ demonstrated experience as a Project Manager within the civil infrastructure sector
  • Detailed knowledge and demonstrated high level experience in project management, planning, budgeting, and cost control
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to drive a team of people to deliver a quality project on time, for the best cost and with no safety incidents
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to interpret and apply contracts
  • High level decision making, negotiation and influencing skills
