JOB DESCRIPTION
The Role
EdAssist is a state government initiative designed to support students whose learning has been disrupted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative will be delivered at De La Salle College in 2021 over 25 weeks during Terms 2 to 4. Assistance in Numeracy and Literacy will be offered to students after school hours during weekdays.
De La Salle College is currently hiring multiple tutors to work in this program.
A Tutor will:
- Possess excellent communication skills and have a proven proficiency in either Literacy or Numeracy or both
- Examine student data and implement targeted learning strategies
- Work with students in small targeted groups encouraging conceptual understanding of key Literacy and Numeracy skills
- Build a positive relationship with students to better understand their interests, current levels of engagement and motivation;
- Monitor student progress and communicate periodically with the relevant College personnel.
A Tutor must:
- be a teacher who is registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) or has Permission to Teach from VIT
or
- be a pre-service teacher, with specific conditions in place
and
- be available between 3:00pm and 4:30pm on one or more weekdays
- demonstrate commitment to the Catholic and Lasallian ethos of the College
- demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
- possess a current Working with Children Check and strong knowledge and have an understanding of Child Safety legislation and responsibilities
- Proven ICT competence (De La Salle College makes extensive use of ICT, including Learning Management systems and student laptops)
De La Salle College will:
Offer remuneration in line with the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Employer Agreement
