Senior Analyst - Model Monitoring

How will I help?

The purpose of this role is to ensure credit risk models are performing as expected and highlight any potential issue to relevant stakeholders as early as possible. This involves generating model monitoring results for credit risk models across the Westpac group on a regular basis, reviewing them, facilitate model monitoring group meetings and drafting papers for various Committees and regulator such as APRA.

Some of the key responsibilities for this role are:

· Keep track of issue resolution status through the use of JUNO and discussion with relevant stakeholders

· Manage ongoing monitoring of credit risk models leveraged to establish and maintain ‘best practice’ risk management

· Enhance existing model monitoring framework by adopting the use of BitBucket and Tableau

· Facilitate regular credit risk model monitoring forums and reviews of model monitoring outcomes with relevant stakeholders such as modellers, product risk managers and independent model validators.

· Recommend remedial action required to address marginal or unsatisfactory model performance.

· Document all monitoring processes and procedures.

· Execute delivery of data requests and supporting analysis required for APRA annual IRB validation, or other requests from the regulator related to models or risk estimates.

What do I need?

To succeed in this role, you need:

· Minimum of three years’ experience within credit risk/analytical environments or equivalent

· Advanced SAS programming skills, SQL, Excel with VBA, Word, PowerPoint, Bitbucket and Tableau

· Strong knowledge of IT principles and system development lifecycle, data management

· Sound statistical knowledge (desirable)Strong communications and stakeholder management skills

· Detailed knowledge of banking credit risk framework

· Strong appreciation of statistical modelling data requirements, model monitoring requirements and understanding of how models are effectively implemented into operational environments
