We are looking for an Assistant League Manager to join our team at Urban Rec!

This role would be perfect for someone who is looking for a part time opportunity to be involved in the social sport industry, and the exciting world of running sports leagues and tournaments.

Your loves include:

Meeting new people, sport, and exceptional customer service. You have an eye for detail, and you find satisfaction in ticking things off, completing tasks and finding small improvements.

The role is part time and might suit someone who is looking to get into the sports industry or studying a sports or events Management degree. We are looking for someone who is great at talking to people, outgoing, always the life of the party and also a gun at the behind-the-scenes admin work.

Hours are afternoons and evenings Monday-Thursday plus some Sunday afternoons. Hours will increase during busy periods.

The successful applicant will be:

  • Based in Canberra working at our office in Lyneham and our leagues around the city including Tuggeranong
  • Have a car, and be able to drive to visit league/sports and events
  • Flexible with your working hours
  • Super organised
  • A confident person, who can think for yourself.
  • Have a demonstrated ability in being able to handle conflict.
  • Willing to learn all of the skills required to run a successful sports business.
  • A love and general knowledge of a wide range of sports.
  • A lover of all things active, social, and fun.
  • Bonus points if you play sport with Urban Rec!

Your roles will include:

League Administration:

  • Assisting in managing teams, scheduling, enquiries and discipline.
  • Training and managing our on-field staff.
  • Organising equipment and merchandise.

League Attendance

  • Dropping prizes, equipment, first aid supplies at leagues
  • Managing staff
  • Player management and engagement
  • Social Media engagement

Essential Requirements

  • Drivers Licence and access to a car
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to work Mon-Thurs 4pm-9pm and Sundays 2pm-6pm

Desirable Criteria

  • Sports Management / Business experience
  • Event Management experience

At Urban Rec we stress the FUN and social aspect of playing sports with your friends. It really is all about getting out, meeting people, and generally having a good time. Established in 2017 Urban Rec has grown from 1 Multisport league to 28 leagues, 12 different sports with 25+ event hosts and HQ staff and over 1200 weekly participants.

As an Assistant league Manager, you will be working directly with our League Manager to manage 20+ event hosts and 1200+ players on a daily basis.
