The opportunity has arisen for two Workplace Relations Consultants to join the Workplace Relations team at Deakin.

The Workplace Relations Team at Deakin is unrivalled - offering a dynamic mix of advising on complex employment law matters and strategic project work. Every day is interesting and unique!

Specifically, the scope of the roles includes:

Providing advice and assistance to staff and management on a range of matters including for example, enterprise agreement application, performance management, grievances, bullying, probation, organisational change and restructuring and employment termination;
drafting and/or reviewing a broad range of documents, including letters, advices, employment contracts, policies or procedures and preparing reports for managers, senior managers and staff; representing the University in communications with unions, legal representatives and other external organisations on workplace matters; and
actively participating in divisional and University-wide programs.

The roles will report to the Senior Consultant, Workplace Relations, with broad oversight by the Director, Workplace Relations.

The successful candidates will have the following skills and experience:

Relevant post graduate qualifications in Law, Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a similar field and/or extensive relevant experience

Significant and demonstrated experience in providing pragmatic, high-level strategic advice, coaching and guidance to managers at all levels, on employment law, workplace relations and other related human resources issues

A working knowledge of current legislative developments and cases

Sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary human resources management practices, with a particular emphasis on performance management, workplace relations and complex employment matters

Demonstrated ability in the management and resolution of complex staff case matters and keeping clients relevantly informed of progress

Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills together with proven influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to maintain strong relationships with colleagues and organisational staff and management at all levels

The successful candidates will also have the following attributes:

* Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
* A demonstrated history of proactive case management
* Be able to act autonomously and under limited supervision
* Demonstrate a flexible and practical outlook in advising on technical matters
* Exercise judgment using a strong set of ethics
