Manager - Analytics, Credit Risk Modelling How will I help?

Risk Analytics develops and owns a range of credit risk models including risk estimate models that drive capital and provisioning for the Westpac Group.

This position exists to provide modelling support for the development and maintenance of risk estimate and risk grading models for the Business and Institutional portfolios across the Group.

Please note that this role is open for Melbourne location along with Sydney.

Some of the major accountabilities of this role are:

  • Lead modelling projects and oversee design and delivery of credit risk estimate and risk grading models applied to Business and Institutional portfolios.
  • Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
  • Maintain and enhance existing models, including annual reviews and investigations as required to support stakeholders and regulatory engagement.
  • Ensure that all processes, procedures, issues, and outcomes are appropriately documented and controlled.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with team members and senior managers within Risk Analytics to ensure our projects, business-as-usual activities, governance framework and compliance obligations are managed in a coordinated manner.

What do I need?To succeed in this role, you need:

  • 7+ years’ experience within an analytical team or equivalent.
  • Highly-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, sound data management knowledge and the ability to apply strong quantitative skills to practical problems in a commercial environment.
  • Excellent record of academic achievement, preferably with a postgraduate tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Maths/Statistics/Physics/ Engineering/Actuarial/Finance).
  • Strong communications and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong programming skills in Advanced R, Python, SQL, Java, SAS, MATLAB, Excel with VBA.
