The Senior Planner provides planning assessments of development approvals with a specific focus on the statutory responsibility of managing all aspects of planning applications. This includes liaising with stakeholders, negotiations with applicants, preparing assessment reports and briefs to the Minister for Planning and preparing correspondence and inputs for the department's data and information systems.
More specifically, the Senior Planner is primarily responsible for complex and large-scale planning permit matters and important government priority projects. In addition, the Senior Planner provides advice on issues, options and solutions within a functional area of responsibility and fosters effective partnerships and networks with peers and stakeholders.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

* A relevant tertiary qualification and significant experience in urban planning is required.
* Demonstrated experience in all statutory planning permit and development processes (including Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal Planning and Environment List matters or Planning Panels Victoria) is required.
* Demonstrated experience in assessing and managing complex and/or strategically significant development proposals within a Victorian state or local government context is an advantage.

This is a fixed term position available up until 31 December 2021.
