The Hospital
This is a 265 bed multi-discipline, modern health care facility serving the ACT community. The ED sees about 60,000 patients (25% admission rate) and is supported on site by general medicine, cardiology, general surgery, O&G and intensive care services.

The ED is about to undergo a review of its model of care to accompany a physical renewal with the focus being on improved reception and triage of patients, enhanced see and treat capacity, and increased SSU (including 4 paediatric SSU beds). There is a strong interest in Point of Care Ultrasound with a number of consultants holding either the DDU or CCPU. The department is currently accredited for advanced training with ACEM (12 months).
 

The Location
Located only a 15-min drive from the CBD, the city has a population of approximately 410,000. It is known as the ultimate family friendly getaway destination designed of attractions with activities and events especially for kids. The capital city is full of museums and galleries, archives and collections making it a perfect location for people who want to explore in their time off. The Position
The position is designed for PGY3+ doctors who will provide high quality emergency medical services to the hospital and health Service. Provide day-to-day emergency medical care for patients at a level commensurate with the level of clinical experience and under the supervision and direction of more senior medical staff. Demonstrate appropriate progression toward more independent medical practice, with concomitant development of clinical knowledge, skills and behaviours required for safe medical practice. With close ties to the local hospital and university, there are many opportunities in the region for those that want to stay and finish their training in capital city. For the right candidate in their final year of training, we can offer a tailored roster, some non-clinical time and additional training in ultrasound or another area of interest.

 
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must have

  • Must have minimum 6 months ED experience 
  • Must be CAP or have General Registration
