In April 2019, Salic Australia Pty Ltd finalised their first investment in Australia with the purchase of an extensive portfolio of farmland in the wider area of Merredin in Western Australia. Today, Merredin Farms is one of Australia’s largest farming companies with arable lands extending over 200,000Ha with the operation split into four (4) farming aggregations.

About the role

With a new General Manager recently appointed and a sharpened focus on yield improvement and the adoption of technology and best practice agronomic practices, Merredin Farms are now seeking to appoint a high-level Farm Manager to oversee one of their aggregations in the Merredin area with a focus on broadacre cropping. The position is responsible for implementing, managing, and supervising all farming operations across their aggregation to drive business success and optimise farm performance. Given one of the key priorities of the organisation is the development and upskilling of their people, strong leadership attributes as well as demonstrated experience will be the focus for this recruitment.

Skills and attributes

We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Extensive experience in large scale farm management with a focus on broadacre cropping and a genuine commitment to WHS and the safely of all employees
  • Natural people skills in being able to relate at all levels, leading from the front and coaching and developing a highly productive team
  • Highly developed communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong managerial skills including accurate farm budgeting and data recording as well as timely operational reporting
  • Flexibility, adaptability with a determined outcome focus
  • High levels of initiative with the ability to make informed decisions
  • Well planned with ability to focus on the bigger picture while being highly attentive to operational details
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in agriculture or a related discipline (highly desirable)
  • Sound Microsoft IT skills.
