About the Roles: 
The Circular Economy Policy and Markets Branch develops and implements policies, programs and initiatives to achieve the NSW Government’s circular economy objectives. 

Senior Policy Officers play an integral role in contributing towards the work of the Branch, leading and collaborating on projects to develop solutions to complex policy issues, through stakeholder engagement, research and data analysis, legislation review and best-practice policy and program design.

The successful candidates will work on the delivery of NSW’s key circular economy initiatives, including the NSW 20-year Waste Strategy and the NSW Plastics Plan. 

About You:
You will be an enthusiastic individual who is capable of collaborating within a team while also having the capacity to work autonomously. You will have, or be able to develop, strong connections both within and external to the Department to enable you to be effective in your role.

It would be desirable, but not essential, for you to have knowledge and experience in government. However, it will be essential for you to develop extensive knowledge and experience of the work of the Department.

To be successful in the role, you will need be able to communicate effectively (in written and verbal formats), know when to seek direction, and be resilient and adaptable to changing deadlines and priorities.

Key knowledge and experience:
• Experience in the review, analysis and development of strategic initiatives, policy and programs, and a demonstrated ability to develop ideas collaboratively and use influencing skills to achieve desired outcomes.
• Evidence of using initiative to generate solutions to complex issues.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake research and analysis to guide strategic advice and policy direction.
• Background in policy development, legislative reform, waste and resource recovery, commerce, environmental protection, economics or sustainability.
