About the role

The Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanic provides maintenance and repairs within their skill level (1, 2, 3 or 4), to all vehicle mechanical and electrical systems including drive, and drive-line, steering, suspension, braking, air, hydraulic, computerised and other associated systems.

You’ll operate specialised diagnostic equipment, computers, multimeters, mig and oxy acetylene welding and various hand tools to get the job done.

About you

You are a qualified and experienced Automotive/ Heavy Vehicle Mechanic looking to join a great team and play an important role in helping the people of NSW get to work, school and home every day.

You enjoy getting hands on with different heavy vehicles and performing high level technical tasks with ease. You want to expand your knowledge and skills across other trade streams like body repair and auto electrical. You’ll be a go-to expert on mechanical work and be able to conduct thorough inspections and quality assurance to sign-off on the work of other staff.

It’s also important that you can work well in a team. We’re looking for people who can demonstrate well-developed verbal and written communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.

What you’ll need:

  • A relevant Trade Certificate (Automotive / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic) and
  • A Tradesperson's Certificate issued by Fair Trading OR a Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Authority Certificate (MVRIA Certificate).
  • A Medium Rigid Driver’s Licence (or have the ability to obtain one)


This role will involve shift work. Relevant shift penalties apply.

Salary and benefits

Remuneration includes a base salary of up to $1,426.30 per week, plus:

  • 15% shift allowance
  • regular overtime
  • employer's contribution to superannuation
  • 20% annual leave loading for shift workers with 5 weeks Annual Leave.
