The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Finance Business Partner to be a part of the Group Rail Finance team. This position plays a key role in assisting the NSW Trains business unit in: understanding its financial performance; formulating strategies to achieve business targets; and improving its ability to forecast future performance.

What you will be involved in?

  • Assisting with the budget and forecast process, payroll reconciliations, financial reporting and commentary, investigating budget and forecast variances, drafting PowerPoint presentations, modelling financial scenarios, updating forecasts in Tm1, preparing and uploading journals.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders to prepare and submit financial plans and ensure their alignment to organisational business plans.
  • Providing advice and partnering with key stakeholders in the budgeting and forecasting process through the validation of financial inputs.
  • Providing advice to key stakeholders on financial improvement strategies to assist the business achieve its financial plans.
  • Working with Project Sponsors/Project Managers to support project planning and manage project financial performance.

About You

We are looking for an Associate Finance Business Partner who has an Accounting degree and is CPA qualified or near-qualified with demonstrated experience in financial and/or management accounting and reporting & analysis. You will have a curious mind along with strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.

You will also have the ability to build relationships quickly, ability to present and interpret complex data to all levels of management and strong communication skills are inherent requirements for the role.

Note – This role may require travel to regional areas across NSW due to the regional focus of NSW Trains. Flexible work practices are highly promoted and the incumbent could work based out of any location across NSW.
