APS5 Water Policy Officer. Canberra City Location. $50 - 55p/h + Super. 12 month contract available.

Your new company
Located in central Canberra, this large government department has a heavy focus on developing policies and procedures to enhance world class research, policies and procedures in our nation.

Your new role
Your new role as an APS5 Policy Officer is providing relevant industry explicit research, dealing with increasing international interest in Australia's experience in water management and water reform.

  • A strong record of professionalism, performance and delivery
  • Assisting in preparing and coordinating water policy input to international activities.
  • High attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proved ability to engage with stakeholders and external contacts to cooperate and collaborate on water issues..
  • Accountability and commitment to complete assigned tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Personal drive and integrity and a willingness to contribute to team culture
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Report to senior Managers providing support in preparing briefs, policy documents, discussion papers, presentation materials, correspondence, technical and policy advice and fact checking.
  • The ability to analyse any relevant research in relation to policy development

Qualifications in: Political Science, policy, Environmental Science, Natural resource management, or International relations.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will be required to have Previous experience or knowledge of domestic and international water issues and in international engagement is desirable. Demonstrating a high level of attention to detail and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Also proficient in desktop applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. You must be an Australian citizen and possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain a Baseline personnel security clearance.

You will receive on the job training from a very knowledgeable and friendly team as well as an attractive salary $55 p/h + 9.5% Super. If you are successful for the position you will be brought on for an initial 12 month contract with possible of extension.
