One of the largest farming organisations in South Australia is looking for an experienced agricultural technician to join their dynamic team.

The Role

This position is responsible for testing and experiments, and providing technical support to Agronomists and Farm Manager regarding potato and onion crop production.

Your key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • examine physical features and soil characteristics of farmland to determine its most effective use and identify nutrient deficiencies
  • assist in developing methods of planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing crops to achieve optimum land usage
  • identify insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops, and select and apply chemicals for application and control
  • analysing crops to establish and maintain quality standards
  • assisting in controlled experiments to develop improved crop strains
  • collecting, collate and prepare data for research, providing reports to management
  • planning harvesting and other aspects of production processes
  • advise on farming techniques and management
  • operate, maintain and repair farm machinery, agricultural facilities, equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness

About You

To be successful in you will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, you will need a hands-on approach and possess a strong work ethic. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate on all levels. Your leadership skills and your ability to make timely decisions, as well as your strategic thinking, will demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement. Your self-motivation, enthusiasm and vision will play an integral part in the planning and growth of our farming division.

This is a full-time permanent position with an attractive basic salary of $58,000- $65,000 p.a + superannuation. (Dependant upon your qualifications and experience).
