JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose – why this role is important
The OH&S Lead will oversee health and safety at Marvel Stadium and AFL House and will consult, advise and support the broader business in operational aspects of health and safety and emergency management planning.
Day in the life – what you will be responsible for
Occupational Health & Safety Operations

Manage the scheduling, logistics and administration of the OHS Committee meeting, including the HSR nomination process.
Monitor any Worksafe Safety Alerts or legislation updates and distribute to relevant areas.
Manage any Worksafe matters including site visits and notification requirements.
Assist the Return to Work process for any injured worker (includes physical and psychological or illness).
Periodically attend Venue Set Up, Facilities or other department toolbox meetings

Incident Investigation

Carry out investigation of incidents or near misses involving employees, contractors and members of the public
Ensure adequate elimination, rectification or mitigation of causes is completed
Lead and undertake incident and injury investigations
Maintaining and storing accurate documentation in relation to incidents

Safe Work Practices

Review employees working practices and make recommendations for change
Provide recommendations and proactively implement strategies to mitigate any unsafe work practices
Lead and manage Workplace safety inspections and audits, including equipment certification.
Liaise with event organisers to oversee and inspect safety aspects of bump-in and bump-out of events
Facilitate training activities to support leaders and employees in relation to safety practices
Oversee and action relevant items generated in the Event Inspection Checklist
Review and provide advice as required for any updates/changes to induction processes.

Risk Register

Assist managers and HSR’s with risk assessments (including event risk assessments)
Assist managers and HSR’s with Safe Work Method Statements
Assist managers and HSR’s with policies and procedures as required
Review, update and maintain the Marvel Stadium risk register
Review, update and maintain the Confined Space register
Provide recommendations in relation to risk prevention

Emergency Readiness

Coordinate the involvement of key stakeholders in the delivery of a range of emergency planning, training, prevention, response and recovery activities that develop awareness and competency across the business.
Coordinate and maintain Emergency Management Plans and Test Plans and maintain all emergency response materials.
Ensure planning outcomes and test results are up-to-date, documented, recorded and regularly reported on.
Identify gaps in the plans and create an action plan to close those identified gaps.
Play a key supporting role in building Emergency Management awareness and competency across the organisation.
In the event of an incident or crisis, provide administrative/supportive role as directed by the Event Chief Warden
Maintain and update the Arena Evacuation Plan for use as required for events or functions
Maintain and update the Emergency Warden Training Register
Maintain and update the Warden Handbook
Manage the Warden Safety Cabinets located throughout the stadium
Maintain and update the Business Continuity Plan and the Emergency Management Manuals

Must haves – what’s needed to help you be successful

Experience in operational OH&S and EMP roles, preferably involving large capacity venues
Proven knowledge and understanding of Australian workplace health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practices
Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments and preparing reports
