About the role: 

We now have a permanent, full-time position available for a Bookkeeper/Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Department. In this role you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts across multiple small businesses located around Australia.

A typical day will involve accounts payable and receivable, bank and general ledger reconciliations, debtor control, invoice payments and general administration. In addition, this role will assist with the preparation of accounting work-papers, journal entry, BAS/Payroll tax preparation.

Ideally suited to university graduates seeking a start for a career in Accounting or Finance.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and attributes:

  • Recent or near completion of a tertiary degree with a minor/major in Accounting
  • High level of computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Xero
  • A proactive and self-driven nature
  • Exceptional communication skills (telephone and email)
  • Be able to work within a small team as well as autonomously
  • Ability to think clearly and logically
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks whilst always meeting deadlines
  • The ability to use initiative and sound judgement in resolving problems
  • Business-like presentation and professional manner
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all areas of the business

Previous experience in bookkeeping and experience using Xero are preferred but not essential.

Strong communication skills are essential as you will be the first point of contact for stores regarding any account issues and store account payments.
