Communications Advisor job. Local council, Melbourne's CBD. Mix of WFH/CBD. 1-Mar 21 to 31-Mar 22, $55-65/hr.

Your new company
This local council client is based in Melbourne CBD. They are actively seeking an Communications Advisor with senior-level experience, particularly within internal communications, to commence on March 1st and work through to March 31st 2022 for secondment cover.

Your new role
The expectation is that this role will be work from home until advised otherwise by the government, at which point you may be required to make a staggered return to the office. Reporting to the Senior Communications Adviser, your daily responsibilities will be diverse and broad-ranging and will include;

  • Support the Internal Communications Manager with designing, developing and implementing the overall internal communications strategy and operational processes for the council.
  • Take a lead role supporting the development and roll-out of effective leadership communications including writing all-staff announcements and updates from the CEO and members of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Provide advice and direction to work areas within the council, and facilitate the development of internal strategies for change or project initiatives that impact staff.
  • Manage and optimise council internal communications tools and channels to address the diverse internal communications needs of the organisation including Web, Yammer, eDMs, videos and virtual events.
  • Curate engaging content for council's internal communications channels including council newsletter, CEO messages, virtual and actual all-staff events, Yammer campaigns and the council Blog.
  • Partner with the Internal Communications Manger to co-design and apply a framework to measure the effectiveness of council's internal communications and leverage insights to continuously improve these.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for these roles you will have;

  • Substantial experience in a similar internal communications-focused role developing integrated communication strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing a variety of communications tactics including events management and via digital tools including Yammer and Zoom to communicate and engage with internal audiences.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, including experience with supporting CEO leadership communications
  • Experience in developing tools to communicate business change and transformation to internal audiences.
  • Proven ability to function effectively in a complex and demanding environment, with a high level of personal and team responsibility, and to effectively manage high workloads, tight timelines, and significant and diverse relationships.

Furthermore, the selected candidate must be willing to undertake a National Police Check. Please note, all applicants must be currently residing in Victoria and have full working rights to be considered for this job.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a highly reputable local council. The positions offer an hourly rate of between $55 and $65 plus superannuation, depending on experience, and will be full-time, 38 hours per week.
