The Position

St John of God Murdoch Hospital is seeking a Clinical Coding Auditor to join the Health Information Services. As a a Clinical Coding Auditor, you are to play an integral part of the Clinical Coding Services for St John of God Health Care to deliver effective, accurate and timely coding data.

This position is responsible conducting regular audits on coded data with the aim to improve data quality and benchmark trends in data that require further education and development.

This role will offered on a permanent full time basis, working 76 hours per fortnight. For the right candidate, part time hours can be accomodated.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Minimum five years of full time equivalent clinical coding experience in a tertiary or secondary hospital.
  • Extensive coding and auditing experience with excellent knowledge and application of the Australian Coding Standards, ICD-10-AM, ACHI and National & State published coding advice.
  • Completion of an Australian recognized Clinical Coding Auditor Training course or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in performing clinical coding audits.
  • Proven ability to manage a varied workload without supervision, to determine priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret data and problems autonomously and the initiative to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including effective written, verbal and proficient presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and foster professional working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Clear and concise articulation of audit results to internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of casemix and Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs)
  • Sound knowledge of the private health fund contract system.
