How will I help?

Within the Westpac Group it is the role of Treasury Finance, within the WIB Finance & Strategy team, to produce Liquidity Risk measures. These measures allow for effective management of financial obligations when they come due without incurring unacceptable losses. Using global best practises and systems, the team produces information daily which allows Westpac to manage and oversee liquidity risk as well as meeting the expectations of regulators in Australia (such as APRA) and across the world.

This 12 month contract role will see the successful candidate overseeing the day to day creation of liquidity risk measures which support the daily management of Westpac’s liquidity. The Liquidity Risk Reporting process is a key part of the Bank’s Liquidity Risk Management Framework as such has numerous downstream stakeholders including Group Treasury, Group Risk and various management committees such as Group ALCO, RISKCO & BRCC.

It is expected that the Senior Analyst, Liquidity Risk Reporting will manage relationships with these stakeholders and ensure daily production of liquidity risk measures is complete and accurate.

Main Responsibilities Include

  • Production, circulation and explanation of timely, daily liquidity reports and the processes supporting the function
  • Monitoring the Westpac Group liquid assets and wholesale funding flows
  • Assist with the production of the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR)
  • Assist with the production of the Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR)
  • Assist in the production of liquidity returns in jurisdictions outside of Australia
  • Key point of contact for all ad hoc business and data requests, taking ownership of any issues raised and seeing them through to resolution
  • Build strong working relationships with internal partners that are based on mutual trust. Work well with a range of different people in different roles to achieve great things for our user of transfer pricing data
  • Develop and run reporting and processes (including testing and change controls) that supports the internal management of the above requirements
  • Designing, testing and implementing any changes to Liquidity policy or interpretations
  • Protect the integrity of the Liquidity Risk Management Framework by identifying risk, issues and incidents
  • Work with Group Treasury and Treasury Risk teams to ensure they have the understanding and data needed to implement best practise Liquidity Risk management functions.

Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • Knowledge of Basel III Liquidity with specific reference to APRA’s implementation of the reform (APS 210)
  • Previous experience in Treasury, Finance or Risk Management function
  • Demonstrated knowledge of balance sheet analysis and modelling
  • Experience producing analysis and reports for senior management and governance committees
  • Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking capability
  • Strong relational and stakeholder management skills
  • Must be prepared to be hands on and able to operate independently
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Finance or quantitative related discipline
  • Knowledge of SQL and database concepts
