RTC is the business that safely transforms Rio Tinto’s end of life mining, processing and infrastructure assets by developing innovative and sustainable solutions to leave a positive closure legacy. We collaborate with all parts of Rio Tinto to focus on maximizing post-operational opportunities, de-risking and reducing the scale of closure liabilities and executing existing and near term closures at optimal cost.

The RTC Commercial team provides support to the RTC Delivery Regions and Studies Team with respect to legacy site portfolio revenue generation, liability elimination, and dispute resolution transactions. We also provide business analysis support to the broader RTC business. In the regulatory space, we support the RTC Delivery Regions in negotiations with regulatory and other external stakeholders, and liaise with RT Legal and Corporate Relation to ensure both national- and regional-level legal and regulatory trends are understood and reflected in RTC strategy and closure cost estimates.
