Role Type- Permanent, Full-time
Reporting to the Head of Markets Documentation, you will be part of a specialised team that supports OTC derivatives documentation globally for ANZ. As a Markets Lawyer, you will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and finalising OTC derivatives documentation with various counterparties including Funds, Financial Institutions and Corporates in accordance with credit approvals and relevant ANZ Bank policies.
You will take ownership of the entire negotiation process for OTC derivatives documentation including ISDA, CSA (both regulatory and non-regulatory CSAs), GMRA, GMSLA, clearing agreements and other related markets documentation. This will involve assisting in obtaining approval from relevant stakeholders including Credit, Central CSA, Markets Operations, collateral management, Tax and Group Treasury.
As part of this role, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our global stakeholders and will be providing documentation support to peers in Hong Kong, Taiwan and People’s Republic of China.
Your key accountabilities in this role will include-
- Advisory - Provide high quality, timely advice on matters including legal capacity, enforceability of collateral and close-out netting. This role will also conduct close-out netting reviews.
- Documentation - Maintain the relevant ISDA, CSA, GMRA and other ad hoc templates for counterparties and assist in keeping the Markets Legal documentation library up to date. Adhere to internal initiatives and processes including proper maintenance of matters in the legal agreement repository and reporting system (“LARRS”).
- Risk mitigation - proactively mitigate and be accountable for the management of legal risk through the provision of a quality, timely, commercially relevant and cost effective legal service.
- Engaging with external counsel - managing ANZ’s engagement with external counsel with a view to delivery of cost efficient and high quality legal services.
- Team focus - provide guidance to other team members within the Markets Legal Team on areas of subject matter expertise, and general support with a focus on team culture. Participate in internal projects and assist the Markets business to achieve its strategic objectives.
To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll ideally bring the following-
- Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating OTC markets documentation including ISDAs, CSAs and GMRAs.
- Proven experience in managing markets documentation services in a fast paced growth environment.
- Excellent understanding of Financial markets environment, relevant markets documentation, compliance and risk issues and products. Including knowledge of OTC derivatives market products and Funds experience.
- General understanding of a bank’s credit process and familiarity with credit approvals including an understanding of corporate authority documentation requirements and account opening process.
- An ability to provide commercial solutions-based legal documentation services, while maintaining robust independence of legal documentation advice.
- Excellent communication skills, client focus mindset and strong stakeholder relationship management, with the ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels.
