Job Description
Collingwood Park State School OSHC are currently looking for a motivated OSHC Educator to join us in providing high quality OSHC programs at our Outside School Hours Care Service located in Collingwood Park.
The service is located on the grounds of Collingwood Park State School, is not for profit and is operated by a very supportive P&C committee. The service offers before and after school care during school terms and vacation care programs throughout the school holidays.
The position will be on a casual basis with weekly rotating roster. The successful applicant must be available to cover any shift during the services operating times of 6am-9am & 2:30pm-6:00pm 5 days a week and then on school holidays 6am till 6pm. Rosters are sent out weekly in advance.
The key responsibilities for this position include:
- Assist the Coordinator with the planning and preparation of interesting, educational and fun activities for children in care;
- Active involvement with children in activities as directed by the Coordinator;
- Thorough supervision of children aged between 5 and 13;
- Documenting evaluations and observations on the program, individual children’s development and completing regular reflections on the program for individuals and in groups;
- Communicating with parents and school representatives as required;
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment before, during and after the completion of the daily program; and
- Actively supporting the coordinator to ensure the service meets the requirements of the National Quality Framework.
Essential criteria:
- Current working with children check (blue card);
- Current first aid training including asthma, anaphylaxis and CPR or willingness to obtain ;
- Demonstrated experience, and enthusiasm for working with children 5-12 years;
- Demonstrated ability to work within and contribute to a team environment;
- Highly developed communication, organisation and planning skills;
- Commitment to ongoing learning, reflective practice and professional development;
- Good organisational and time management skills; and
- Good presentation skills and professional manner.
Desired:
- Certificate III or higher relevant qualification;
- Experience working with children with additional or complex needs;
- A passion for working with children with additional or complex needs including behaviour difficulties; and
- Experience working in a school age care service with children from different backgrounds and with a range of needs and abilities.

Salary: $18.00 – $36.00 per hour
