The team

ASIC's Markets teams ensure trust and confidence in Australia's financial markets by regulating infrastructure providers, market participants, investment banks, market conduct, trading issues and supervision of listed and OTC markets.

As part of Markets, Market Infrastructure ensures fair and efficient financial markets by supervising the conduct of exchanges and over the counter markets. We have access to enhanced regulatory data sets encompassing various aspects of exchange traded and OTC markets.

The Derivatives team deals with the licensing and supervision of derivatives market infrastructures operating in Australia, including exchanges, trading platforms, trade repositories and benchmark administrators.

The role

As an Analyst, you will be required to:

  • Contribute to the development of derivatives market infrastructure policy by identifying strategic and technical approaches to supervising operational and IT resilience of regulated entities
  • Participate in surveillance activities and regulatory assessments of the operational risk frameworks and arrangements of regulated entities
  • Consider and effectively action requests for regulatory authorisations, including those in relation to licence applications and market operating rule changes
  • Manage relationships with derivatives market infrastructure stakeholders in Australia, including exchanges and trading platforms.

Salary range for this role will be between EL1 Steps 1 to 4 - $108,843 - $120,000 + 15.4% superannuation + performance bonus.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, finance, economics or law.
  • Prior experience acting in a Risk, Compliance or Internal Audit capacity.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, their operation and the nature of products traded on exchanges, trading platforms and OTC.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Experience designing frameworks and governance structures to ensure technology resilience and effective risk management is desirable.
