JOB DESCRIPTION

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Ocean Import Customer Service Consultant who is looking to take their career to the next level with a global organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain productive and positive relationships with clients
  • Act as a liaison between Sales, Operations, Account Management and the Customer for assigned accounts to ensure the customer’s processes and procedural requirements are followed and shipments are handled in accordance to implemented SOPs
  • Support existing and new products and services, look at ways of reducing costs and increasing profitability for the company and retaining existing clients and business
  • Coordinate customer shipments, whilst continuing to monitor shipments until destination delivery ensuring customer agreed service levels/value add services are met
  • Inform clients of order status in a timely manner
  • Inform clients of vessel/aircraft delays in a timely manner
  • Solves customer complaints in conjunction with responsible departments
  • Escalate complaints of service failures to designated manager/supervisor for action and recommend solutions to prevent similar occurrences
  • Raising Corrective Action Requests for all ongoing issues
  • Ensure all responsible parties are informed and customer files updated regarding changing client requirements and/or KPI’s as they occur
  • Assist and resolve invoice queries in conjunction with operations/account management
  • Pre alert customers to extra ordinary charges prior to billing and get acceptance
  • Other duties as directed

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years Customer Service experience in Ocean Freight
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, highly service orientated
  • Competent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Sound knowledge of sea operations both import & export;
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and authorities which impact on your area of responsibility
