Exciting opportunity to join Victoria Legal Aid's Civil Justice Program and contribute to the work of the Equality Law team.

  • Full time maximum term position up to December 2021, part time arrangements considered
  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $70,578 - $91,333 plus superannuation

About the role:
Victoria Legal Aid's Equality Law team provides legal advice and representation to people who have experienced discrimination, and advocates changes to laws, policies and practices to promote substantive equality through high impact work.

You will provide legal advice and represent clients in civil law matters, primarily in the areas of discrimination, equality and human rights law, and will assist the Program Manager to undertake strategic advocacy that promotes equality, particularly through law and policy reform. You may be involved in community education projects and assist in the development and implementation of strategies and policies to improve client services.

About you:
You are experienced in civil law and relevant court procedures, and possess a strong knowledge of or practical experience in discrimination law. You have outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive professional relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders and clients at all levels. Your collaborative approach and sound teamwork skills will be crucial to your success in this role.
