The Opportunity

Our Queensland team is currently shortlisted for several major infrastructure and local council projects, including several long-term appointments. As we’re anticipating an increase in our project pipeline, we’re calling on experienced (minimum 5 years) Environmental Scientists interested in joining our Contaminated Land Management (CLM) team in Brisbane.

Reporting to the Team Lead – Queensland CLM and working closely with a team of over 20 contaminated land professionals across south-east Queensland you will provide technical and project management support on a range of challenging projects and client portfolios. The work will often involve collaboration with other technical disciplines such as geotechnical, civil engineering and occupational health and safety, and involves a range of clients including Commonwealth, State and Local Governments, mining, oil, gas and industrial projects and property developers.

Typical project scopes include environmental due diligence, portfolio assessment and advisory, preliminary and detailed site investigations informing risk assessments and development of mitigation strategies, remediation planning and implementation.

Day To Day, You Will

  • Conduct environmental field works (e.g. drilling, hydrogeological testing, site validation, monitoring) where aspects of safety, sensitive stakeholder considerations or complicated geology/hydrogeology require substantial experience
  • Manage projects, including budget, scope, time, stakeholder communication and client relationships
  • Oversee contractors and take responsibility for safe, compliant and quality field works programs
  • Interrogate investigation data, develop conceptual site models and prepare technical reports and assessments
  • Review and approve the work produced by junior team members, providing coaching and mentorship
  • Play a significant role in work winning initiatives in the local market and foster strong relationships with existing clients
Some of the key projects we’ve recently been involved in:
  • Gold Coast Council Environmental Monitoring programs and strategic advice – Landfill design, environmental management, compliance, contaminant management and sewage treatment plant assessment and upgrade works support
  • RAAF Base Townsville PFAS Investigation – regulatory compliance investigations, development of monitoring programs and design of remedial options

What We'll Love About You

  • Experience in delivering substantial projects with sound technical CLM knowledge, including geology/soils, hydrogeology and environmental chemistry
  • Understanding of QLD CLM regulations
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
  • Decision making and ability to think on their feet
  • A desire to mentor and train junior staff and grow local business
  • A keen interest in contaminated land management
  • A current Australian Driver’s License
  • Formal qualifications in environmental science, chemistry, biology, geology or engineering
