Welcome to Rolling Stock:

The Rolling Stock team upgrade, service and maintain all three existing train fleets that service the Melbourne Metropolitan Rail Network. Keeping this service running is only a small part of the process. In addition to maintaining the fleet, we also look to make improvements to the technology and extend the life of these vital assets.

Reporting to the Technical and Project Manager with our Siemens Fleet Team, this position will review and report (where required) all incidents from a day to day and long term perspective; identifying root causes and potential control measures. Where approved they will also manage the implementation of these control measures.
* Provide technical advice and response to questions on Rolling Stock systems and performance to senior managers, divisions, and external parties
* Develop, prepare, review and evaluate longer-term capital and project proposals for current and future Rolling Stock assets as required
* Prepare and evaluate submissions for Engineering change, Waivers, type tests, with respect to rolling stock systems, conducting and overseeing the testing and results of new or modified systems to ensure fitness for purpose.
* Review, develop and maintain technical, quality and operational standards to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, statutory obligations and MTM policy

* Tertiary Qualification in Engineering suitable for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia or an appropriate technical qualification - ELECTRICAL
* Registered Professional Engineer or working toward registration
* Experience in rolling stock systems design, construction or maintenance environment

The success of this role will be due to your ability to engage with multi-disciplinary stakeholders across the business. Facilitating required changes will require continual problem solving with some solutions you'll provide yourself while others will be solved in consultation.
