The Role:
A wonderful opportunity exists for a Palliative Care Consultant who is looking for a balance of lifestyle, with a great salary package, to take on this role.

You will be expected to provide:

  • Inpatient and outpatient specialist Palliative Care Services.
  • Professional leadership to medical staff within the service, and to be an active contributor to the multidisciplinary patient care team.
  • Ensure the organisation, management and provision of specialist clinical services in Palliative Care, including community-based care.

    Salary Information:
    Total remuneration value of up to $446,028 p.a. (L27), or a total remuneration value of up to $408,051 p.a.

The Hospital:
This is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment. The Hospital has four operating theatres and two procedure rooms. The operating theatre complex is supported by an 8 bed ICU/HDU. The Department is accredited for specialist training and is involved in teaching and research.

The Department of Medicine has an allocation of 32 medical beds, five coronary care beds, 12 medical oncology and haematology shared beds, nine palliative care beds and provides specialist outpatient clinics each week. Situated close to stunning beaches, perfect for snorkelling, scuba diving and boating and surrounded by the Ranges/Mountain thus creating an impressive backdrop for the vibrant City and coast.

The city boasts several high performing Schools, over 80 education facilities including public and private schools (preparatory year followed by year 1 to year 12), special education, distance education, TAFE and University.

Mandatory qualification:
Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Palliative Medicine with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). This will require Fellowship of the Australian Chapter of Palliative Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FAChPM - RACP)
