About the role
As the Senior Safeguarding Practitioner, you will provide organisational leadership through promoting a culture of safeguarding and best practice in the prevention and response to abuse and neglect of our customers (both adults and children with disability).
Your objective will be to support Northcott's Quality and Safeguarding obligations for the organisation, including legislated reporting requirements. You will be part of a team that provides services including safeguarding, training, and sexuality and relationship counselling and education.
What we are looking for
- Strong commitment to the rights of people with disability
- Extensive demonstrated experience managing the response to abuse and neglect of vulnerable people, including the ability to conduct and lead critical investigations
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant professional field
- Knowledge of legislation and reporting obligations regarding vulnerable adults and children
- Demonstrated ability to promote best practice models of delivery across a variety of service types, including adherence to person-centred and strength based approaches
- Initiative, flexibility, effective time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- NSW Working With Children Check
- NDIS Worker Check
In this role you will
- Be part of, as well as mentor, the Safeguarding and Response team
- Support the organisation in ensuring an appropriate and timely response to all concerns or allegations of any form of adult and child abuse or neglect
- Conduct internal investigations and advise on the required course of action
- Ensure provision of expert advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions
- Fulfil reporting obligations to the NSW Quality & Safeguards Commission and other relevant external authorities
